Whether a holistic or natural cures over the counter approach, many women do not utilize vitamins and light exercise can keep the body strong during PMS time. Although you can never go wrong with a good multi-vitamin, certain vitamins promote good overall heath as well as address common complaints such as fatigue, headaches, cramps, and mood swings. In combination with light exercise such as walking your dog or jogging in the park, the fresh air helps to stimulate your immune system.
PMS Hint: Chasteberry is great for mood swings, headaches, and breast tenderness while calcium will help with depression and food cravings. As always, consult your physician for drug interaction because vitamins can interact with certain medications.

Almost every woman who has ever suffered through PMS knows that middle of the night craving for chocolate. Or, as one woman said, the irrational urge to do bodily harm to her boyfriend upon finding out he had just eaten the last Snickers bar! There are ways to get those crunchy or sweet craving to leave you alone during PMS time!
PMS Hint: Starving off craving is about planning…not starving! For some great crunchy foods try crisp veggies, crunchy granola or trail mix, and rice cakes. For some sweet cravings, instead of reaching for that chocolate bar, try bite sized chocolate pieces, your favorite yogurt flavor, or low calorie (none fat) desserts.

With the weight gain, pain in every body part, and feeling of wanting to cut the fingers off of any man who gets close to you, is it any wonder at all that most women do not feel sexy during PMS time? However, studies have shown that woman experience a higher sex drive right before PMS and vibrations helps to sooth muscle aches.
PMS Hint: If you cant stand to be touched during PMS time, then load up your favorite vibrator with batteries and relax. Using a vibrator during PMS has been shown to reduce cramps and lower back pains. While it is true that sex will do the same thing, a vibrating heating pad on your back or stomach will help drive away the cramps too!

One of the most common complaints of PMS sufferers is the eternal tightening and tearing of cramps, ravages of headaches, or the violent attacks of mood swings. With tons of home remedies ranging from hot baths and heating pads to herbal teas or warm milk, one of the most surprising remedies for most women is a mixture of acupressure massages according to the PMS symptom.
PMS Hint: For cramps, try rubbing the lower calf above the ankle in an upward motion. If you are suffering from headaches, then apply strong pressure to the muscle between your index finger and thumb. When needing relief from irritability, massage the top of your feet between your big and second toe.

During your PMS time of the month, don’t be afraid to use very visual cues for the people around you. Most women feel like they have to hide their PMS symptoms or expect those around us to “just know.” Instead of enduring the aggravation of people who do not understand your moodiness or headaches, put out a large sign or flag that tells people to leave you alone!
PMS Hint: Getting a PMS flag is easy at www.PMScentral.com. Whether you keep your PMS flag for yourself to give people “fair warning” or give one to your best female friend to help her warn others of the PMS danger zone, this will be a fun and practical way to notify everyone that trespassers will not be tolerated!

Accept that some people do not believe in the symptoms of PMS. Surround yourself with people who know how difficult PMS is in your life to build a great support group of family and friends. Keep a network of friends or family members that you can call when you are faced with overwhelming problems or those food cravings that make you want to sit in a chair in front of the refrigerator.
PMS Hint: Take a note from your cell phone company. Make a quick list of your best girlfriends. Make a pack with the this special list of girlfriends to go get products, find new PMS “deserts,” and serve as a self esteem booster. You can start your own PMS party with your best girls for support.

If I hear yet one more woman refer to PMS as their “monthly friend,” it is possible that I will run screaming from the room. (the virtual room of course!) Although I know that calling PMS a “monthly friend” is how women of my mothers generation taught us to speak politely of PMS, I dont refer to anything that brings cramps, bloating, headaches, and mood swings every month as a friend! Bring me chocolate chip ice cream or really great shoes…and we are friends!
The point is this…when woman constant think of PMS as friend or even a welcome visitor, then they forget that they can both talk about PMS in an adult manner (three little letters….say them with me….P-M-S) without the world coming to an end and we can help each other through the pains of PMS without shame. We dont acknowledge that we can gain support from the women around us (millions and millions of PMSing women can be quite a force!!!) and, perhaps even more importantly, gain information on what works to fight the ravages of PMS each month.

Dont we all wish there was a cure for PMS?
Alittle magic PMS pill that would make the monthly bloating, headaches, cramps, and mood swings go away?
I know that I do. Often, knowing the right PMS cure is as easy as recognizing your PMS symptoms and taking action!
Ready for the magic that makes all of your PMS disappear?
Try a few of these PMS options:
PMS Cramps:No matter what anyone recommends, I still love ginger cookies or ginger drops as a great cure for cramps! Easy to take along in a little baggie in your purse and nibble on when the mood strikes, both can keep the need to eat away from your door too!
PMS nausea:Here is the number one sign for pregnancy, so most women freak out and run for an EPT when they get nausea during PMS. I do and lots of women do! Never…ever…risk the chance if you are sexually active that you are pregnant, but once you know for sure you are not, then nothing replaces a few saltines for a quick fix with some 7up or Sprite. Again, quiets the munchies and gets your stomach back to normal.
Mood Swings:These are the worse because it turns me into a completely different person that I dont recognize until after I have chew someone up. Usually, that person is looking at me like I have just jumped out of my skin. In reality, there are lots of things, starting with recognizing that the anger that is welling up is really PMS! Dont take it personally. If you need alone time, then take it! If you need to take a Pamprine or holistic remedy like chasteberry…dont put it off.
For some reason, women often feel like they have to face their PMS without help. There is help to the worse PMS symptoms. But, like winning the lottery, you do have to buy a ticket!!

There are practical and non-practical ways to handle PMS. Let’s face it. Every month I seem surprised that I have PMS. Until the mood swings, fatigue, or bloating hit, I don’t realize that comment from the jerk at work—normally a very nice guy—was only an attempt at humor. Of course, by that time, he is usually bleeding in the floor and people are standing around looking at me like Lizzy Borden.
What seems so odd to me though is not only my constant surprise every month, but the way in which women around me tend to deal with the PMS issue. I mean, after all, they have seen the same behavior in the mirror right? I think that we are in denial about PMS. If we don’t admit that the PMS symptoms we see in other women are the very same symptoms we see in ourselves, then we don’t have to deal with the idea of PMS every day. After all, who wants to consider PMS every day right?
My answer: we all should consider PMS every day!
Why? Because denying that something that changes the way you think, feel, interact with those you love, and see yourself for 5-7 days out of every month of your life will not help you through it!
Further, when we deny the presence of PMS in our lives, we take away all ability to plan for it and give it power to control the events in our life.
From the bloating to the binge eating to the cramps and mood swings, there are many PMS symptoms that affect our everyday lives as women. Most women can plot their PMS days on a calendar and with free email reminders from PMScentral, you can fight PMS from one month to the next!
