PMS and Exercise for Holistic PMS Cures

Tuesday, July 15th, 2008

Whether a holistic or natural cures over the counter approach, many women do not utilize vitamins and light exercise can keep the body strong during PMS time. Although you can never go wrong with a good multi-vitamin, certain vitamins promote good overall heath as well as address common complaints such as fatigue, headaches, cramps, and mood swings. In combination with light exercise such as walking your dog or jogging in the park, the fresh air helps to stimulate your immune system.

PMS Hint: Chasteberry is great for mood swings, headaches, and breast tenderness while calcium will help with depression and food cravings. As always, consult your physician for drug interaction because vitamins can interact with certain medications.

PMS…Safe not Sorry

Saturday, July 12th, 2008

Almost every woman who has ever suffered through PMS knows that middle of the night craving for chocolate. Or, as one woman said, the irrational urge to do bodily harm to her boyfriend upon finding out he had just eaten the last Snickers bar! There are ways to get those crunchy or sweet craving to leave you alone during PMS time!

PMS Hint: Starving off craving is about planning…not starving! For some great crunchy foods try crisp veggies, crunchy granola or trail mix, and rice cakes. For some sweet cravings, instead of reaching for that chocolate bar, try bite sized chocolate pieces, your favorite yogurt flavor, or low calorie (none fat) desserts.

PMS Plan

Sunday, June 1st, 2008

So much during this time of year, swimming parties, bar-b-ques, and trips to the beach can make PMS more difficult. Not just the usual cramps and headaches, but exposure to the sun and excess food mixing with a few adult beverages can make PMS pricklier than ever. Not to mention, when I feel bloated because PMS has put on those extra tons of water weight gain, being in a bathing suit or shorts is exactly what I want to make my self-confidence fall through the floor.

Let’s take a moment to focus on the good things with some positive thinking:

  • Wear what makes you feel comfortable and sexy. Think in terms of the good side of PMS. Yes, I feel bloated and like there is an extra person in my jeans, but my breasts are usually nice and round. Use that extra ½ cup size to make you feel better. Wear a pretty shirt that shows off a little of that temporary cleavage!
  • When my PMS strikes and I get cramps, backaches, and sore shoulders, I pamper myself with a bubble bath before I go out to an event. This helps me feel relaxed and fresher instead like everything is so wrong. I sink down into the warm water and give myself time to breath in the scent of the candles around the tub.
  • As PMS starts to approach, often times, so do the blues of depression and the unexplained urge to cry. I surround myself with friends that understand the PMS plan needs to be put into effect. This often includes girl’s night out to dinner and a movie. This keeps my man from having to deal with the chick flick and the tears for no reason at all at a particularly sappy part of the movie.
  • Most times, some planning around PMS will help it be less of an effect every month on you and the ones you love. For most women, we never plan for PMS or what we will do to alleviate PMS symptoms every month. We just accept PMS….but, we don’t have to!

    PMS Proof Your Home!

    Saturday, May 17th, 2008

We are not taught to PMS proof our environment for safety. Instead of preparing for PMS every month, we wait to react to the cramps, mood swings, headaches, and bloating that come with PMS. The best way to PMS proof your home is to talk to those you love about your PMS symptoms and let them know what is going on in your life that causes everything from PMS acne to PMS anger!

Although this might sound like a painful proposition in itself, I use the following guidelines when talking to others about PMS:

  • Be direct about your PMS. Let the person you are talking with know exactly what your subject is going to be. If you use words that avoid that subject, like “monthly visitor” or “your friend,” then the confusion is more likely.
  • Be specific about your PMS symptoms. If you are general using words like “my back hurts,” then you could have a pulled muscle. Tell the person you are talking to that you get cramps that hurt in your stomach and back. It is not as painful as the PMS to communicate.
  • Give the person you are talking to methods to help you through your PMS. By giving them hints as to how to help you with your PMS, you give them solutions and help yourself. Remember–PMS knowledge is power!
  • Lastly, dont forget to sign them and you up for FREE PMS alerts!

    PMS Principle

    Wednesday, May 14th, 2008

Many women are taken by surprise every month when PMS hits and they feel the frustration of something simple, like running out of chocolate chip ice cream, sending them on a PMS rollercoaster ride of anger, mood swings, and nausea. Somehow, my PMS symptoms always sneak up on me right in the middle of a crazy outburst about something that really would not matter to me any other time.

Some great examples of my PMS tragedies are:

  • My favorite wine at my favorite restaurant is sold only by the bottle….not by the glass.
  • My favorite TV show is replaced by an hour of political debate.
  • My husband has a slightly heavy tone in his voice (after all, he can’t be tired right?)
  • The quickest way to avoid the tragedy and drama associated with PMS is is to be ready to treat the PMS symptoms of PMS every month. Get your FREE PMS alerts to let you know when PMS is coming and be ready!

    PMS Woman Causing Pregnant Pause

    Sunday, May 11th, 2008

I, like tons of other women, live in fear that the mood swings, nausea, and bloating are really pregnancy instead of PMS. I dont think that I know a woman that has not considered atleast once in her life that she MIGHT be pregnant when her PMS does not lead to the other PMS symptoms she has become accustomed to once a month, she runs right off to the drug store to get the closest Early Pregnany Test on the market.

Unfortunately, the female body, even though it is an amazing creation, is not a time clock. Sometimes, stress, anxiety, medications, and lack of sleep can lead to changes in your hormonal PMS cycle. Because some PMS symptoms are similar of pregnancy, it is always better to invest in a little piece of mind to make sure you are not pregnant if your PMS cycle does not start with in reasonable amount of time. Sometimes, that trip to the drugstore can save you tons of sleep…and if might save you some tense moments during your next mood swing. Plus, it gives you an excuse to pick up some ice cream, but that is another PMS symptom!

    Battling the Bs of PMS

    Monday, May 5th, 2008

Many women battle the breast pain, breast tenderness, and bloating that accompany PMS. For many of us, there are over the counter medications that can help with the many symptoms of PMS, but the thought of taking medicines that are not holistic cures or natural make many uncomfortable. In order to relieve these PMS symptoms, you can try these natural ways to relieve the three Bs of PMS!

  • Breast Tenderness:For a natural cure, try evening primrose oil to make the pain go away.
  • Breast Pain: Pain in your breasts during PMS time can make even the thought of wearing a bra impossible. Try alittle Chastleberry to take the pain ways.
  • Bloating: First, avoid salty snacks. Salt retains fluid in the body and cause PMS weight gain. A little magnesium will help you with the pain.
